The hotel group acquires Hesperia Barcelona del Mar for €27.7 million and rebrands it as Catalonia Barcelona Beach

In a significant move to strengthen its presence in Barcelona, Catalonia Hotels & Resorts has acquired Hesperia Barcelona del Mar for €27.7 million. With this purchase, the hotel group now owns 29 properties in the city, further solidifying its leadership in Barcelona’s hospitality market.
The newly rebranded Catalonia Barcelona Beach is located in Poblenou, right on the Mar Bella beach, offering a premium seaside experience. The hotel boasts 84 rooms, some with breathtaking Mediterranean views. It features a gastrobar, a breakfast area with a terrace, a fitness zone, meeting rooms, and a parking facility with 29 spaces, catering to both leisure and business travelers.
This purchase is part of Catalonia’s broader expansion strategy, which includes upcoming hotel openings in cities like Málaga, where the group is preparing to launch a 200-room, four-star hotel.
With over 90% of its hotels owned outright, Catalonia Hotels & Resorts is also open to alternative growth models such as lease agreements, management contracts, and co-investment partnerships.
The acquisition of Catalonia Barcelona Beach strengthens the brand’s footprint in one of Barcelona’s most dynamic districts, offering guests a prime location and the high-quality service that defines Catalonia Hotels & Resorts.
