Strategic Investments Enhance Urban Logistics Capabilities in Key German Cities
Prologis, a global leader in logistics real estate, has announced significant investments to expand its urban logistics footprint in Germany. The company has acquired a diverse portfolio of logistics facilities, adding approximately 1.14 million square meters of urban space to its European holdings. This strategic move includes properties in key German cities such as Nuremberg and Berlin, enabling Prologis to better serve its customers in these vital markets.
In Berlin, Prologis is developing a climate-neutral facility in the Tegel district. The new building will offer around 8,500 square meters of high-quality logistics and office space, designed to meet the highest sustainability standards. Features include an all-electric energy supply, a rooftop photovoltaic system, and green facades to blend seamlessly with the urban environment. This development underscores Prologis’s commitment to sustainable urban logistics solutions.
Additionally, Prologis has been awarded ten contracts under Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) tender for on-roof solar installations. These projects will add more than 16 MW to Prologis’s solar portfolio, supplying energy to over 11,000 German households annually and reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 13,300 tonnes each year. This initiative aligns with Prologis’s broader strategy to integrate renewable energy solutions into its logistics facilities, benefiting both customers and local communities.
Through these strategic investments and developments, Prologis is enhancing its capabilities to meet the growing demand for efficient, sustainable urban logistics solutions in Germany. By focusing on key urban centers and integrating advanced sustainable technologies, Prologis continues to lead in delivering value to its customers while contributing positively to the environment and society.
